Are you someone who really enjoys skiing? If so, have you ever gone to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort before? Although it is located in the outskirts of Wyoming and in times past, it has not been a huge part of the traveling industry, over the past several years, that has changed significantly.

It is actually starting to be seen as one of the best places to ski within the United States; so much in fact that actors like Harrison Ford and former vice presidents including Dick Chaney have enjoyed spending time there. That’s because it is opulent yet also affordable.

So, if you are looking to put Jackson Hole on your travel list this year and you’d like a few tips on how to prepare for your vacation, we have provided you with five things that you should do below:

1. Decide the time of year you want to go.

According to many travel experts, there are two ideal times to go to Jackson Hole: either between April and May or between September and October. The main reason why is because the traveling and lodging costs tend to be the cheapest, plus you don’t have to worry about being overwhelmed by a lot of tourist traffic.

It’s important to take note that the summer is the most crowded time to go and the winter season is quickly catching up to the summer as being the most expensive.

2. Pack appropriately.

In order to enjoy your trip, you need to know how to pack. This depends on what time of the year you plan to go; however, do keep in mind that Jackson Hole tends to have milder temperatures and can be somewhat unpredictable. For this reason, make sure that you have in your bag some waterproof outwear, no matter when you desire to head that way.

3. Jot down a list of things to do.

Before going anywhere, it’s always a good idea to jot down some of the best things to do there. And when it comes to Jackson Hole, there are several. There’s the Grand Teton National Park, the National Museum of Wildlife Art and the Granite Hot Springs, a spa where you can rest and relax for hours on end, just to name a few.

4. Rent a car.

When you make plans to travel the Rockies area, there are different modes of transportation available. There’s public transportation as well as taxis that are available. But by far, it’s best to rent a car.

There are several rental car companies in the area but we recommend that you avoid renting a vehicle at the airport and look for one inside of Jackson Hole instead (they tend to be cheaper). You can also get around pretty well by foot.

Just keep in mind that if you do go to Jackson Hole during the winter, it can get to be really cold so you’ll need to bundle up.

5. Eat during the late afternoon or early evening hours.

Saving money is a priority for all of us, even when we’re on vacation, right? Well, while you’re in Jackson Hole, here’s a great tip: a lot of the eateries inside of Jackson Hole offer Happy Hour discounts on drinks and food during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

This means that you can enjoy all of the food that Jackson Hole has to offer without having to pay full price for it. Happy travels!
